Stories captivate us as stories speak to the child within. 

The stories that make up Lords of the Last Benches have a simplicity & 

authenticity that flows from their being personal experiences. 

The stories evoke myriad contexts but carry a single message: 

"they touch the depth within and you grow to full potential."

I believe stories have the power to reveal certain truths about our character,”

writes Julian. “I am sure that I am not alone in this quest.” 

In one story about Swimming and Floating, the author draws a parallel between

these two activities and their application to life and living.

“The waters of life are similar,” he writes. “We need first to get familiar with situations,

activities and surroundings; float before we dive in to the waters. 

At times we are so motivated that we are blinded to unfamiliar situations.

This is when feeling the water, floating and swimming come into play---before we dive in.” 

"It amazes me to think that Julian D dared to enter the mind of a child to articulate 

the everydayness of life from there...and yes, 

he succeeded rather well in coming up with tit bits of wisdom for ‘children’ of all ages.
